PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The T3W Modernization project is a design-build, 589,000 sf renovation within the footprint of the existing T3 Terminal that includes a seismic retrofit to Terminal 3 West and the F Connector, as well as satisfy the BICE commitment letters within both Terminal 3 East and West. T3W also includes upgrades and the replacement old building systems deemed to be at the end of their life in order to improve operational functionality and efficiency such as building automation, life safety, HVAC systems etc. Another aspect of T3W is the goal to enhance revenue opportunities by extending the exceptional Boarding Area E and Terminal 3 East passenger experience.

SERVICE DESCRIPTION

HCI’ provided MEP Management services for the PMSS/SFO team on the T3W project which includes coordination and management of all MEP design and coordination on the project. The duties of the MEP managers includes but is not limited to managing the contractors implementation of the MEP scopes of work in addition to assuring SFO standards and requirements are implemented.

In addition to being the MEP Manager on the T3W project, HCI was also the 3rd party estimator that develops parallel estimates against the general contractors on the project. Our team developed and managed all cost related items on the project that includes but is not limited to overall project cost, change orders, and projected cost. In addition to cost estimating, HCI worked with the team to develop value engineering strategies in addition to leading the targeted value engineering efforts on the project.

SFO Terminal 1 Boarding Area B

The new T1 BAB is a design-build 500,000 sf boarding area to accommodate a total of 24 gates. The project includes a new Boarding Area B with gate boarding and seating areas, concessions and passenger amenities, reconfiguration of airside systems for new gates, back-of-house and support spaces, and a new baggage handling system. Additionally, the project required temporary measures to be implemented to allow for the remaining terminals to be operational 24/7.

The BAB program includes designing a robust, redundant, and newly defined IT Network, extension of the campus wide security system in addition to a native Bacnet BMS system. The newly defined IT Network includes, but is not limited to, high density WiFi in addition to configuration of the ICS network, SFO Net, and the SLAN(Campus Security). Each one of these networks is being incorporated into their respective disciplines for the purpose of proper network transfer of the various systems such as Video Surveillance, BMS, Passenger Boarding Bridge monitoring, and Dynamic Glazing. T1 BAB is at the forefront of deploying these newly defined network configurations as the ICS Network, High Density WiFi, and configuration of the EMCS compliant BMS are all new to SFO. Additionally, each one of these elements of the network is critical to the function of the Net Zero goal of T1 BAB and SFO as a whole.

The Revenue Enhancement and Customer Hospitality (REACH) Program was developed to implement a consistent and improved passenger experience throughout SFO’s International Terminal Building (1TB). This project is a strategic refresh of key elements within Boarding Areas A and G, the Main Hall, Customs and Border Protection, and Concourse 1 Level in the 1TB. This refresh project touches nearly every customer facing aspect of the International Terminal Building including pre-security food court renovations, passenger lounges, an exterior terrace, signage, improved customer navigation, improved recompose areas, new furniture and updated information display monitors.
